Launched the kayak on Little Seneca Lake late in the afternoon this past Saturday. On the major points I was working the deep weed line with a plastic worm. The hydrilla is starting to really carpet the bottom out to about 12 feet deep. Some of the shallow wood is becoming engulfed by the weeds so the deep weed line becomes more of a big fish magnet than the shallow downed trees. For those of you who have never been on this lake before the water there is crystal clear and a white lure can be seen 10 feet down. Caught and released four largemouth bass in the 15 to 17 inch range. The best time again this weekend was as soon as the sun dipped behind the tree line. This lake would probably produce some great night fishing but alas boats and fisherman need to be off the water by official sunset.
On Sunday I drove up to the Potomac River at Edward's Ferry. Lost count of the number of smallmouth bass that hit. Probably had 25 strikes and managed to land 15 or so. Most of the fish fell for 3-inch tubes in shades of brown and green. No big ones, just lots of 9 to 11 inch fish that just love to go airborne once hooked.
