Coastal Bay Trawl and Seine Survey

Type: Ocean
Region: Atlantic
Location: Coastal Bays

We just finished our trawl and seine sampling in the Coastal Bays for the month of June. We saw lots and lots of little crabs, sting rays, eels, and more horseshoe crab eggs than Ive ever seen in one place! Please see Steve Doctors posting for more information about the horseshoe crab survey.

We also saw a lot of other wildlife: flounder fishermen. This photo was taken at one of our trawl sites in the coastal bays, just south of the inlet. Ive heard a lot of reports of people catching flounder in these areas: theres lots of food for flounder, and good oxygen levels with all the flushing that happens here. Hope to see you out there soon!

Happy Flounder Fishing!
