Type: Tidal
Region: Eastern
Location: Tuckahoe River
I went fishing on the Tuckahoe River Saturday evening with an incoming tide. I caught between 40 and 50 yellow perch and brought home 7 keepers. The largest was 15 and weighed 2 lbs. 4 ozs. (Unofficially). I was thinking that the state record was 3lbs. 4 ozs. , I brought the fish home, cleaned it and put it in my refrigerator. Later that night I checked the DNR website and realized that the state record is 2 lbs. 3 ozs. The potential new record was in my refrigerator.
If you look at the March 7, 2012 report thats me in the green kayak .I fish the Tuckahoe once a year in early March. Its a long drive from Jarrettville, MD. Over the years I have found a few holes that hold large perch but none as large as 15 inches. I hope my fellow fisherman do not make the same mistake that I did.
