My First Largemouth This Year

Type: Nontidal
Region: Central
Location: Rocky Gorge Reservoir

This is the first Largemouth Bass I caught (and safely released) this year. I was bank fishing at around 10am on 4/12/13 at Rocky Gorge Reservoir (Scott's Cove area). This fish weighed 1.4 lbs and was caught using a Texas rigged, pumpkin colored, soft plastic stick bait in less than a foot of water. Conditions were cloudy, air temperature at around 60 degrees, with rain tapering off.

I saw several larger, easily spooked fish patrolling the shoreline and checking me out, but could not get them to bite. I also saw bass aggressively protecting what I assume to be spawning beds, but they were in areas inaccessible to me.
