Coastal Bay Bluefish

I caught this Bluefish in a very unlikely spot behind Ocean Pines.

Q: Is it common to see big blues in the inlet back waters? Or is it because they are spawning?

A: What a nice looking fish. Typically blues are not found in great quantities that far from the inlet, but it does happen. My understanding is that they spawn this time of year and a little later, but offshore. I noticed a lot of birds working around the route 50 bridge on my way home from work yesterday, which is usually a sign of Bluefish and Shad. Nice catch!
