Redeyed Bass or Smallmouth?

Location: Pretty Boy Reservoir and Patuxent River

On Saturay I caught these red eyed fish in Pretty Boy Reservoir and assumed they were smallmouths. Then on Monday I caught a smallmouth in the Patuxent River and it looked so much darker and had brown eyes. Can you ID these 2 fish?

DNR Response: Joe, they are both Smallmouth Bass, variability does occur and there are no Redeye Bass in Maryland.
