Successful Day on the Bay

Type: Chesapeake
Region: Middle Bay
Location: Holland Point, Poplar Island

Sunday morning June 9th my best friend Michael and I put his boat in at Chesapeake Beach about 6:00am. We went straight to Holland Point to catch Spot to live line. We caught about 6 Spot, 6 small rockfish, 9-12 and 20 White Perch up to 12. We ran straight across to buoy 84 and anchored up. We got a few bites, but they werent taking the baits all the way in to get hooked. We moved about a mile south just off Poplar Island and re-anchored. Caught one about 20 then ran out of bait. We pulled anchor went back to Holland Point and caught another 8 spot. Went right back across to just southwest of Poplar Island. We caught 3 more rockfish within an hour and a half 20-25. All in all a successful day considering we left fish to chase fish we got real lucky.
