Andy Simmons, an avid fly fisherman, of Clear Spring, MD took advantage of the somewhat cooler temperatures this weekend in pursuit of smallmouth and largemouth bass on one of the Potomacs major tributaries. Action remained steady throughout most of the day despite the low and clear water conditions. A total of 50+ bass were landed, most of which were in the 10-12 size range. The trophy of the day came towards the end of the trip when Andy hooked up with this nice largemouth on a subsurface crayfish imitation. Aquatic vegetation was dense in spots making floating and fishing a challenge at times. Most fish were concentrated in the deeper pools below riffle areas.
