I fly fished this Saturday with my friend William Heresniak from Eastern Trophies Fly Fishing (http://www.easterntrophies.com/).
We hit the Potomac River south of the Algonkian Park and got into a bunch of Smallmouth Bass. Maybe since the temps have dropped, or because of the intermittent rain that day, they werent hanging around the riffles. We were able to find them cruising the flats and were taking them steadily on the Chuck Craft Popping Bug.
At the end of a large flat, I saw a very large mouth come up and sip the fly off the surface. I thought it might be a snakehead, but it ended up being a 10 pound catfish quite a fight on a 6 wt and a memorable catch indeed!
