Crabbing

Type: Chesapeake
Region: Northern
Location: Upper Bay - Magothy

We went out on Saturday morning about 6 am and ran a 600 foot trotline and 5 traps. The action was fast and furious all morning. In 3 hours we had 10 dozen keepers and probably threw back just as many. After 3 hours we ran out of bait and pulled everything up. Very few boats were out but the folks that were pulled their gear at about the same time.

Size ranged from about 5 to over 6 inches. The fall crabbing should be incredible when the crabs out here now grow a little more after their next molt.
