For the past two weeks, I've been cursing our government for shutting down. Not only are they inflicting pain on millions of Americans, they closed all my favorite boat launches on the Tidal Potomac (Gravelly Point, Columbia Island, and Belle Haven). Those launches are run by the National Park Service and are hence shut down.
Today, I decided to launch from Seneca Landing, which is run by Montgomery County. I haven't launched there in a few months due to the low water and the hydrilla everywhere, but since the other launch sites are shut down, I decided to give it a try. I sure am glad I did. It was not easy to find the fish, but once I did, man were they biting. I managed to catch 9 Smallmouth Bass. The two smallest were 13" and 15" and all the rest were between 17-20 inches. That's 7 smallies over 3 pounds within 1 hour. I was using Pumpkin tubes with 1/8 ounce tube heads. I also tried spinner baits, crank baits, and jerk baits, but they just wanted tubes today so that's what I gave them.
