Type: Chesapeake
Region: Upper Bay
Location: East of Aberdeen Proving Ground
Yesterday I took the boat out in search of Striped Bass. I tried fishing the Chesapeake Bay east of Aberdeen Proving Ground. I was fishing the main shipping channel in the middle of the bay with no luck so I decided to move a couple of miles to the south. In the distance I spotted something that appeared to be moving in the water about 3/4 across the Bay. I turned the boat slightly and motored on to investigate.
When I got closer I could see it was a nice buck deer swimming across the Bay. It apparently had enough of APG and was heading for the Eastern Shore.
I ended up taking a picture and wishing him success in the upcoming rut. The last I saw of him he was steadily swimming toward the Eastern Shore.
I caught a nice catfish for dinner and my wife, Amy, who joined me after work. We had dinner on the boat and at dusk she caught a nice Sriped Bass which I will freeze.
