For the past two weeks the Anadromous Restoration Group has been conducting a seine survey on the Choptank/Tuckahoe Rivers and the Patuxent River. We are targeting Ameircan Shad and Hickory Shad, but catch a variety of species using a 200 foot seine net. Hickories and Americans are kept for otilith examination and all non-target species are counted and released. Pictured below are some of the species we have encountered during the survey and their size.
