I ice fished Deep Creek Lake on Sunday, Feb. 23rd, with some friends. It was a beautiful 45-degree day. We had good action on tip-ups all morning but no luck jigging; probably because we were too busy tending tip-ups to jig! Caught lots of small-to-medium Chain Pickerel, one nice Northern Pike, and several dandy perch like the 13-incher pictured. We also landed two beautiful Walleyes, the largest 23 inches (pictured). Having lived in Minnesota and Wisconsin for 28 years, I can state that the ice fishing in western MD is as consistently good as any I experienced Up North.
