Here is a photo of inside the denil fish ladder at Wilson's Mill on Deer Creek. Fish ladders like this one can help migrating fish like shad and herring move past dams to historic spawning grounds. Warming temperatures and spring rains will trigger these annual migrations so DNR Fish Passage staff are out and about making sure they are open and clean of debris.
The Second photograph is of Jim Thompson claning the fish ladder. He usually cleans the junk inside the ladder before removing the leaves that block the grate.
