Crappie Kind of Day

Type: Nontidal
Region: Eastern
Location: Local Pond

Saturday, a friend and I went to the eastern shore to do some pond fishing. We were pleasantly surprised to find a large number of large Crappie on the spawn. Fishing was super charged. They were hitting all sorts of lures from spinners to grub tails. We caught probably 20 crappie, kept 16 between us. It wasn't long before the largemouth got in on the action. While we released all bass, we scored near 60 largemouth ranging from 1 to about 3 lbs. I caught 1 --15" citation crappie , and 1 --11" citation sunfish over 1 lb. great sunny day to fish. We only a fished a small fraction of 2 ponds and could only imagine how many more fish were in there.
