I just returned from a fishing trip from northern Maryland on 4/17/2014. The fishing was not easy but in the end worthy with 2 nice Rainbow Trouts - one around 14". I started the day at Middle Creek only to find most of the holes devoid of life. I tried fishing with streamers and nymphs but no luck. I only saw two golden trout in one of the holes up stream. This same pattern repeated itself at Friend's Creek with no fish visible in any of the holes nor any bites. Finally I tried Owen's Creek and I fished one of the large holes by the railroad bridge. I caught one rainbow on a streamer tipped with a night crawler and then hooked another but lost it. That was it for that hole. Went upstream and fished a smaller pool under a railroad bridge and hooked a nice 14" rainbow on a muddler minnow. This fish made the day worthwhile in spite of the slow fishing. There may be some trout left but they are really fussy eaters. I continued fishing trying many places including the hole by Roddy Road bridge but no luck. Saw a few trout. Looking forward to the next stocking. Photo is of what looks like to be a male rainbow trout. Tight lines all.
