Mass of Carp

Type: Tidal
Region: Central
Location: Middle Branch

I work for the MTA and while doing maintenance on the light rail system over the Middle Branch we saw this massive fish gathering. I was wondering if this was a mass spawning of carp? The mass of fish were probably about 50 ft wide and extended from where the metal structure is in the Middle Branch all the way under the elevated track area and went towards the island and the Resco facility! Sorry for the poor quality of pictures but all we had were spot lights and cell phone cameras.

DNR Response: Dave, it's difficult to tell but carp do behave in this manner while spawning in shallow tidal waters throughout the bay region so they could very well be common carp.
