On opening day we caught this 40" 32 lbs. monster as a double, along with a 32" 28 lbs. trophy, on a white tandem rig trolled from planers. We were headed south along the western edge of the shipping channel just south of Randle Cliff. 20 minutes later we landed our 3rd, which was our limit for the day. The tide had just turned, about an hour after high tide. We were off the water by 11:30 am. We saw many boats landing trophy rocks throughout the morning. This was undoubtedly one of the best opening days in memory. Even the weather was perfect.
