On 29 October, MDDNR Inland Fisheries worked with Maryland Bass Federation Nation (MBFN) and Wheelabrator Technologies of Baltimore to release 1042 tagged largemouth bass fingerlings to Middle River. In addition, thanks to a grant from Domino Sugar to MBFN, 165 largemouth bass that were 1 3 pounds were released to Middle River. Biologists from MDDNR Southern Region helped tag 107 of those 165 fish. Anglers who catch a tagged fish are asked to call MDDNR with the tag number and date of capture (410-260-8257, Joe Love, Tidal Bass Manager). This information will be used to help assess the success of stocking programs to tidal rivers. The objectives of this stocking project are to: 1) improve fishing for anglers in Middle River; and 2) determine if the largemouth bass are leaving Middle River.
