The action at Fisherman's Park just below Conowingo Dam was great this past weekend. The facility reported the shad were finally making a run in better numbers this week, and so I managed my first American Shad of the year, a nice fat one pictured here in the water. I caught 9 more, along with a couple Hickory Shad as well. Guys wading around me even caught Smallmouth Bass, Walleye, Carp, and Striped Bass, which all hit our little shad dart rigs. On one cast I also was surprised to find my first Largemouth Bass of the year at the end of a shad dart. I ended on a high note with one more American Shad after the warning siren and just before the floodgates opened full bore.
