Region: Upper Bay
Location: Bay Bridge
Had a great day on the Bay on Tuesday 5/13 with a couple of my good friends. I was aboard the Diamond Jim with Captain Jim Daniels and Captain Rick Daniels. We were trolling near the number 35 & 37 pilings under the Chesapeake Bay Bridge and that welcomed sound of line peeling off the reel and the Captain Yelling "FISH ON" echoed across the Bay. I knew I had something special on the other end but had no idea until 45 minutes later when we all got our first look at the fish right before it went halfway into the net. Best fish of my life. Checked it in at Anglers and it measured 49" long and weighed 46lbs. She had already spawned out and I assume she was heading back to the ocean. As for the pictures they say to hold the fish out as far as you can and it will look bigger. No way to do that on this one. It was all I could do to pick her up. You can never have too many captains on board when you catch a great fish like this.
