My youngest son and I headed out from Nan's Cove kayak launch the evening just after 6pm. We paddled out to the edge of the Patuxent River. There we began to drift with the wind and tide and set out our lines. We had small pieces of shrimp on our bottom rigs and did they work. My son ended up catching 7 croaker, including a double header, as well as a nice size White Perch. I caught 4 croaker myself, including at least one keeper size. Being that we didn't have any way to keep them fresh, the keepers were released in hopes to catch them again. We were also treated to a couple of stingrays playing on the surface. But boy am I glad we didn't hook into one of those since they would probably have pulled us across the Patuxent. We headed back to the dock right around 7:10. In fact the only reason we stopped was because I didn't bring enough bait. That won't happen again.
