I just returned from a deep sea fishing trip on the Morning Star Headboat. My expectations were to catch Sea Bass and Summer Flounder. After a 2 and 1/2 hour run we arrived at a reef and started fishing. I managed to catch a throwback flounder and then a keeper sea bass. After awhile I caught my only keeper flounder of the day. Others on the boat did better getting their limit of four flounder. Some 5 and 6 pounders where caught by end of the day winning the pool money. At least with 2 fish I had dinner. The captain advised using a strip bait of flounder belly or Squid on a long trailing bottom hook with a light green curly tail. The top hook could be baited with clam. A little motion could be given the bait to attract the flounder. Some people did well, others only caught 2 keepers and some people caught no keepers just throwbacks. The headboats have switched over to Summer Flounder as fishing for Black Sea Bass is slow. Tight lines.
