Small Lake Venues Continue to Produce

Our fishing this past week remains good for bass and bluegills as quality largemouths are active during low-light periods and on cloudy days. We caught several fish in the 3 to almost 5 pound range on a variety of plastic stickworms, surface frogs and a few on live bait while pursuing Channel Catfish. Central Maryland public and private venues are our targets.

Bluegills and Pumpkinseeds are sporadically spawning late into the summer and many quality fish remain close to springtime bedding sites. We like 1/64th to 1/200th oz hairjigs and Trout Mini-Magnets tipped with Gulp! Or live worms for these fish, some of which go one pound, but average quality size is 1/2 to 3/4 of a pound. Suspend them below a sensitive bobber and let the wind drift them through productive areas.
