Drift Fishing on the Potomac
Type: Nontidal
Region: Western
Location: Potomac River, From Hancock to McCoys Ferry
Me and Dad and a bunch of our friends went to the Potomac River to drift fish on our canoes and kayaks on Saturday. We started at Hancock and ended at McCoys Ferry. We caught a lot of Smallmouth Bass, some catfish and sunfish. One of our friends was hooked up on a Musky that looked to be around 3 foot long but it got off. The bass were all under 14 inches. I didn’t get any pictures of the fish but I did take this picture of the cut at Sidling Hill that can be seen from a stretch of the river. I thought this view of the cut from the river was neat, it was actually a lot further away then it appeared.
