Summer Visitors to the Bay

Type: Chesapeake
Region: Mid Bay
Location: Chesapeake Beach

Caught one of these I believe you said it was a silver perch last year native to the gulf. And 6 of these flat fish in the cast net in Chesapeake Beach. What are they? These fish look like they should be in the ocean not half way up the bay.

DNR Response:The fish in the picture on the left is a silver perch which is a member of the drum family. The fish on the right is a harvestfish and is a member of the butterfish family. Both are summer visitors to the Maryland's portion of the Chesapeake Bay.
