With the recent stable, cooler weather we have found that a variety of species are turning on as October closes in. We have done well on largemouth bass, channel cats, crappies, bluegills and redear sunfish. Small jigs tipped with mealworms or worms fished on 4 pound test below a bobber gets the panfish and Stank X Stix are catching the bass. Incidental catches of channel cats will take a variety of baits intended for other species.
Many small public and park lakes are producing well right now and it's a great time for family and kids fishing. Pictured is Elena Gronaw, my 4-year old grand daughter with her dad, Matt, and Elena's first crappie. Also, Matt shows his 2-year old daughter, Abby, a nice bass as she looks on.
