Dear Maryland Fishing Reports,
I just read several posts of the great yellow perch fishery at the head of the bay. How do I get in on this fishery? I do not have a boat but am looking for a fishier pier or other location where I can maybe catch these tasty fish. What I have read so far is that people are catching them from boats fishing in 25 feet of water using curly tail grubs. Any advice would be appreciated. I do not have anything to report-just too cold to fish though I might try the gunpowder for brown trout when the weather warms up some. Thanks and tight lines,

DNR RESPONSE - With the forecasted warmer weather we anticipate yellow perch to start moving up into shallower waters, heres a link to a community park in North East which is known for yellow perch: http://maps.google.com/maps/ms?hl=en&ie=UTF8&msa=0&ll=39.588823,-75.949945&spn=0.053842,0.063429&z=14&msid=209810455872301981582.00049c42786bcc9b586cc Also, heres a couple of maps which are old but show some traditional perch fishing locations that are accessible: http://www.dnr.state.md.us/fisheries/fishingreport/ypercheast.html and http://www.dnr.state.md.us/fisheries/fishingreport/yperchwest.html
