I just got back from fishing Beaver Creek in Northern Maryland on 2/17/11 and am happy to report that the stream is in good shape with fish biting. I started the morning fishing the upper portion of the catch and release section moving a big rainbow on a fish egg pattern. I tried several other holes with fish egg patterns and streamers but could not get anything to bite. Moved down stream and did hook a 12" rainbow on a fish egg pattern. I talked to several anglers about huge trout they either hooked or caught. The big problem in this stream is holding on to these fish as they can be quite large. The 60 degree weather brought out 2 other fishermen and the parking lot at the upper catch and release section had 3 cars. I fished the lower catch and release section in the afternoon but had no luck. The lower section has slower moving water yet equally big trout. As I was quitting I must have spooked a big trout which made a big bow wave as it swam away. Beaver Creek has a reputation as a tough stream to fish with many anglers giving up on the stream but there are some truly impressive fish in there. Tight lines.
