Panfishing Remains Hot

Type: Nontidal
Region: Central
Location: Local Ponds

We have been having probably the best bluegill action of the year, especially for big fish, in the past two weeks with nearly 300 fish in excess of 9 inches, all but a few released. We kept some for the pan and enjoyed fillets battered and deep fried! Drop-shot rigs and small live earthworms have taken the majority of the fish from several small public and private venues in Central Maryland. Pictured are some of the pumpkinseeds and bluegills we have been catching.
