February 21, 2011 - After missing out on the nice weather late last week, and reports of yellow perch being caught on the Tuckahoe River, I convinced Keith Lockwood (aka "Tight Lines") to venture out fishing with me today. We launched my canoe at the Hillsboro boat ramp (located just off of Rt. 404) on the Tuckahoe River. The water temperature was 40 degrees. There were several shore anglers fishing for yellow perch, but the action was slow. Keith and I fished for two hours. After I caught two yellow perch on a Cabela's Minnow Tube (crawdad color), I gave Keith one to try. The funny thing is that the minnow tube I gave him did not have a hook in it, and it wasn't until 10 minutes later and missing a couple of bites did we realize it. That is a story that will not be forgotten. We ended the day with three yellow perch with only one being a keeper, and Keith also caught a fall fish. The yellow perch run seems to be just beginning on the Tuckahoe so the action should pick up over the next couple of weeks.
