On 12/27 I fished from 7:00 am to approximately 5:00 pm in the North Potomac just north of Jennings Randolph Lake with two friends. Between the three of us we caught approximately 35 Rainbow Trout, 1 Brook Trout, and 1 Cutthroat Trout. Rainbow Trout ranged from 10 to 12 inches. Brook Trout ranged from 8 to 12 inches and the we did not get the Cutthroat Trout's size.
the rainbows bit on almost anything; white spinners, blue spinners, and a variety of artificial minnows. Brook Trout and Cutthroat only bit on the spinners. All were caught in the slower moving waters and pools after swifter water. Time of day did not matter. Half were caught in the morning and half in the afternoon.
The photo attached is the first catch of the day. A Brook Trout almost 12 inches in length and vibrantly colored. Almost a silver body with bright red fins. Never seen anything like it. Then again, it was the first Brook Trout I have ever caught.
