Micro-Light Bass and Panfish

Type: Nontidal
Region: Central
Location: Local Ponds

Fishing with 2 pound test and a variety of 1/80th ounce jigs has resulted in some quality largemouths and panfish recently. We fish them on a 'near-neutral' float that just barely holds the tiny jig in the water column. Fished 4 to 6 feet below the surface, and tipped with a single maggot, we have caught and released bluegills, crappies, redears, hybrid sunfish and basstotaling almost 200 fish in the past four trips. Make sure you have a proper drag setting on those smaller UL reels as the cold can cause them to 'tighten up' when a cold front kicks in. When a bigger bass hits, you'll want to take some pictures!
