Eastern Shore Variety

Type: Nontidal
Region: Eastern
Location: Leonard's Mill Pond

A buddy and I got the afternoon off and headed over to Leonard's Mill Pond. We landed two nice bass and a solid pickeral. We also came across a large school of these (picture below). Ended up catching one but not sure what type of fish it is. Even saw a banded goose..maybe next year!

DNR Response: You caught a gizzard shad. They are a resident species found in fresh and lower salinity estuarine waters. They are an abundant species in many of our tidal rivers and creeks, but rarely take a baited hook. Most often they are snagged by fishermen targeting other species.
