Shad are Showing Up

Shad are showing up in the Potomac down at Fletcher's Cove. I had the chance to get out Thursday, April 2nd. We fished from 10 until 2, and between two of us in kayaks we were hooking up maybe every 8-10 casts. We were most successful just outside the strongest current, on the shallower side of the river. Wind was out of the south and actually pushed us up stream slowly. We had some really good rod benders, and a lot of jumps. That equals a fun trip.

We fished tandem darts. I'm not sure color mattered. We fished white with red tiped darts, I had green tail and my friend used the same with white tail. My trailer dart was fluorescent yellow with red tips and white skirt, the other rig used fluorescent orange (solid) and a white skirt. We never switched out and each of those darts got hits.
