When the Fish are In, You Have to Find Time to Go Fishing

Type: Chesapeake
Region: Caroline County
Location: Upper Choptank

After reports from my neighbor of catching 50 perch in about 1.5 hours, and only having limited success the evening before, I had to go back and give it another try before going to work this morning. I started off at the famous Red Bridges located on the Upper Choptank between Goldsboro and Greensboro. I fished there for about 10 minutes and only caught 1 small male white perch. Without much success, and having only limited time, I drove downstream to Greensboro and fished from the public boat ramp. Here, I managed to catch about 15 white perch in 30 minutes. Six were nice enough to take home. The fish were a bonus as I was the only one there fishing besides the mallards, wood ducks, belted kingfisher, and muskrat. What an enjoyable morning. It almost made me take the day off knowing that the fishing will be poor for several days following the expected 1-2 inches of rain on Thursday.
