Many of our area lakes and ponds now have crappies 'on bed' with dark, guardian males protecting the fry which will soon emerge. Although it is great fun to spot, cast and catch these spooky panfish, they must be released in order to sustain quality panfishing and a better gene pool. Use small 1/64 or 1/80th ounce jigs to get their attention.
Additionally, huge bluegills are venturing close to traditional spawning zones as well and can be taken on a variety of small jigs and baits. Again...there is a 15 fish limit on these fish, per angler, per day. Good Luck!
