Snakehead on the Fly

After work two weeks ago I decided to stop and fish a section of the Little Patuxent River that I always pass over and believe is stocked with trout. I headed down to the river and fished my most productive trout flies to no avail. As I was heading back to my car, I walked near an area that looked like an old feeder creek to the main stem. There was an overpass that crossed over this stagnant feeder, which was full of Purple Martins. Just as I was walking up, one of the birds fell and hit the water and as soon as it did, it looked like someone dropped a cinder block where the bird landed. I had to go investigate and what I found was amazing.I only had my 3wt fly rod with me, but that didn't stop me from tying on a big Clouser Minnow and finish the day with 6 Northern Snakeheads in the bag and eventually in my frying pan. Amazing fight on the 3wt and since the first trip, I've landed nearly 30.
