Trout

Type: Nontidal
Region: Central
Location: Little Patuxent

Went fishing at the Little Patuxent on Saturday and had a blast! After fishing there last week with powerbait and not having much luck and watching another angler use waxworms below a float I decided to try this new technique and purchased some waxworms at my local pet shop. I caught some of the biggest trout I have ever caught at this river including some pushing 2-3 pounds including this beauty. Also I caught this crayfish as it crawled right up to the bank and was wondering if this was a rusty crayfish? Once again thanks DNR for stocking our streams with so many big trout. I'll be definitely heading back there next weekend with more waxworms.

DNR RESPONSE via Jay Killian, Biologist - Good news is that it isn't a rusty crayfish. Bad news is that it is difficult to tell exactly what species it is. It may be a devil crawfish. Photos of the top side of the crayfish are always helpful for distinguishing species.
