Not Even a Bite Fishing at Calvert Cliffs

Type: Tidal
Region: Southern
Location: Calvert Cliffs State Park

Not all fishing adventures are epic. We traveled nearly 2 hours from Carroll County to Calvert County to fish at Calvert Cliffs State Park. Learning from our mistakes last year, we brought mountain bikes to haul our surf rods and gear the 1.8 miles from the parking lot to the beach. Walking it was grueling! We arrived about 8:30am. We dropped 2 lines with bottom rigs and cut bait and another 2 with blood worms. We used two other rods with lures. We fished for 5 hours and caught......nothing. Not even a bite. Fortunately, it was a beautiful day and it's an amazing view from the beach. We were hoping to catch some spot, white perch, or maybe the rare small striper along the shore, but the fish had other ideas - or weren't there at all.
