It was only a week and a half ago (March 18th) when my wife and I launched our canoe in Greensboro, MD on the upper Choptank River to enjoy a two hour fishing trip and 60+ degree temperatures. The kids were all in school, and fish or no fish, it was going to be enjoyable time together. We managed to find one hole where we were able to catch nine keeper size white perch that we took home for dinner that night. A 1/8 oz shad dart (white tail and white / pink lead head) under a bobber, and slowly retrieved with a moderate jigging motion, seemed to work well. My wife says it is worth noting that she out-fished me, which she did that day, but it didnt bother me at the dinner table that night. I was unable to fish last week as I was at ASMFC meetings in VA. If anyone has been fishing the upper Choptank River in Greensboro or at Red Bridges, I would enjoy hearing how the white perch fishing was this past weekend.
