I saw some cownose rays in the Patapsco River near the intersection with the Stoney Creek in AACo. There were dozens of them. I've lived in Stoney Beach for four years an never seen them before. I wonder if they are why nobody is pulling up crabs. Are they considered an invasive species?
DNR Response: The cownose ray is not an invasive species. They usualy visit the lower and middle Chesapeake Bay from May to October, traveling as far north as Kent Island. In autumn, the rays leave the Bay for southern coastal waters.
