Susky Mix

Type: Tidal
Region: North Eastern
Location: Above Conowingo Dam and Havre de Grace

I went out to do a little fishing above the Conowingo Dam and caught a lot of smaller channel cats and a few sunfish. I also caught a green sunfish with what looks like some kind of leaches or parasites on it. I was wondering if you had an idea what it is? I also went out near Havre de Grace early in the morning and caught and released a smaller rockfish while catfishing.

DNR Response: The sunfish in the middle picture has some form of fungal infection on the exterior mucus layer. These type of infections can occur due to scuffing or abrasion of the mucus layer and warm water temperatures will make the situation more acute then cooler water temperatures. This type of infection will often remedy itself when water temperatures cool.
