My wife and I floated from Dam No. 4 down to Snyder's Landing on Friday, August 14th and had a great day! We live in Howard County and often fish the Potomac but this was our first time fishing a Washington County stretch. We were after smallmouth bass and muskies. It was a beautiful day, the water was low and clear and the bite was good from the morning to early afternoon. We caught about 15 smallmouth, all around 12 inches, all released for another day. While on the water, we had the lucky chance of meeting and chatting with John Mullican, I always track his reports and appreciate his work for us on the Upper Potomac. Seeing his reports inspired me to go after a muskie. Followed one mid morning, I caught this 34 incher right about noon. My first one! Did I catch a Tiger? We saw a few more throughout the afternoon but they weren't interested in our baits. It was an amazing experience and I'm so grateful for my awesome wife for snapping these photos and also getting a great video of the fight. She's my best fishing buddy! We also saw a bald eagle swoop down over the river and catch its lunch. We sat for about 5 minutes and watched it eat. Nothing like river fishing!
