Had a pretty good weekend fishing the Potomac River below Dam 4. Friday night, I went out by myself and caught eight smallmouth bass in about three hours. Three were legal size -- 13" (first picture), 12.5" and 12" -- and all were returned to get bigger. All of them were caught on three - or four-inch plastic worms Texas rigged on a slider jighead. Sunday my girlfriend joined me, and she caught her first two smallmouth ever. The second picture is of her unhooking the first fish. She was actually up 2-0 on me in fish caught, but I finally matched her with a 12" smallmouth (third picture) on a four-inch plastic worm and then one around 10" on a topwater lure as the sun was going down.
