Another exciting day of fishing ! I wanted to send in this report and to say you never know what you will catch, thats what makes me go fish again and again. Every fishing trip is as enjoyable as it was on my first trip 40 years ago, the excitement is always there. I fished at the Patuxent River and caught this needlefish, my first one which was returned back to the river. Fishing overall was very slow, I caught 4 baby stripped bass which were returned back to the river so they could grow up to be trophy size one day. I also did some crabbing. Crabbing in the recent days has picked up quite a bit there were some really nice sized crabs. I had a very difficult time understanding the licensing rules and regulations for crabbing, it seems like the department has made it very difficult to understand. I wish there were simple rules so one can understand it more easily. Hopefully things will get better.
DNR Response: The recreational blue crab rules are online at http://www.eregulations.com/maryland/fishing/blue-crabs-chesapeake-bay-its-tidal-tributaries/. You can also pick up a paper copy of the fishing guide at your nearest DNR Service Center.
