Location: German Branch Creek
I decided to try and fish at a little creek near my house. The creek is called German Branch and appears to only be a few feet deep (at the deepest point). Having driven and run by this creek for several years I became very curious as to if it had any fish!!! I was very happy with the results.
In about 2 hours I was able to catch 30 fish. All about the same size as pictured. I was able to catch about 12 Chub (or at least what I think is a chub), 1 American Pickerel and the rest were Chain Pickerel. All of them were returned to the creek. I was using ultra light tackle (3 pound test line on a ultra light spinning rod/reel with a chart/white grub). You just never know what's going to be swimming around in these creeks!!!
DNR Response: The first picture appears to be a fallfish, not a chub. We call the pickerel in your photograph a redfin pickerel, its scientific name is Esox americanus.
