Bass are Snapping at Swains Lock

Type: Nontidal
Region: Central
Location: Swains Lock on the C&O Canal

The Bass and Crappie are snapping at the C&O Canal at Swains Lock in Maryland near Washington DC. I started the day walking south of the parking lot fishing with a spinnerbait. Before too long I had a stubborn largemouth bass of 5 lbs. I tried to pull him up the bank and the line snapped. I managed to get down close to the water and grab him before he got away and snapped some photos. A nice crappie later on took my spinnerbait. Continued fishing back to the parking lot and caught a bass and then walked north of the parking lot and caught 2 more largemouth bass. This was a nice way to end the season. Don't know how much longer the bass will bite but may have a couple more weeks until the water gets too cold. Most of the weeds have disappeared and the largemouth bass are near the logjams. Though there are a lot of leaves to foul a spinnerbait. Tight lines all.
