Managed to locate some open water in central Maryland despite our recent cold temperatures and got a variety of fish on 1/100th oz jigs tipped with wax worms fished near some still green weed beds. Nothing big, but lots of action and happy to be fishing in mid-January. Bass, bluegills, crappie and a few hybrid sunfish made for somewhat of a coldwater 'slam' with water temperatures around 39-40 degrees. Two-pound test was key to detecting strikes, as none of the 60 plus fish I caught in two outings ever pulled the bobber completely under.
